ABOUT ME

Dr. Malai Haniti Sh. Abd. Hamid is a Senior Assistant Professor at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). She graduated with a BSc (Hons.) in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham in 1998 and an MSc in Advanced Organic Chemistry from the University of East Anglia in 1999. In January 2009 she earned her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bath. Her research interest lies primarily in the synthesis, characterization and biological studies of sulfur-containing Schiff bases and their metal chelates. She is also interested in synthetic methodology that involves simple transformations of one functional group to another that can be applied to natural product synthesis. A new area of research interest is on metal organic framework. She was a visiting scientist for six months at the School of Chemistry, University of Glasgow in 2014. The awards Malai Haniti has received are “Penghargaan Hari Guru (Special Mention) 2015”, Excellent Service Medal (PIKB), UBD Research Excellence Award for Early Career (2014) and SCI Graduate Symposia Southern Meeting (First prize) in Southampton (2008). Currently, she holds the post as Deputy Director of Studies for UBD.
