Professor Glenn Hardaker

Glenn Hardaker is Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning and Senior Professor at Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. He is also a National Teaching Fellow (the highest award for teaching and learning excellence in the UK). Glenn Hardaker has worked in universities in the United Kingdom for approximately 25 years in the area of technological innovation and learning. His research is focused on a blend of Islam, innovation and learning. Glenn Hardaker is Editor of two international publications Journal for Multicultural Education (JME) and International Journal Information & Learning Technology (IJILT).

Glenn Hardaker's research focus is on the intersection between Islam, Innovation and learning. His current research funded by the Brunei Research Council (BRC12) has enabled learning innovation to be shaped by international priorities with the roots of pedagogy in Islam. The research searches for deeper understanding into personalised learning.

Glenn Hardaker has served as a consultant to international organisations in the development of education programmes related to Islam, innovation and learning. His educational development work has focused on South East Asia and North Africa. For example this includes educational development work for UNESCO in supporting reform in Higher Education institutions in North Africa.


Glenn Hardaker is recognised for his national and international impact on lifelong learning with an award National Teaching Fellow from the Higher Education Academy (UK). This is the highest recognition in the United Kingdom for teaching and learning excellence.
