Dr. Noor Azam Haji-Othman

Noor Azam is Associate Professor in English language and linguistics, FASS, UBD. He has developed and taught modules on the indigenous languages of Borneo in FASS and the UBD Language Centre. Noor Azam has also taught theoretical linguistics (Sociolinguistics, Bilingualism and Bilingual education), as well as Professional communication and Media studies (Political economy of the media, Trends in New Media). Since 2007 he has held various administrative positions in UBD including, Dean and Deputy dean of FASS, Director and Deputy Director of UBD LC, and Director of Centre for Advanced Research (CARe).

FUTURE PROJECTS

English as medium of instruction in Southeast Asian Higher Education Institutions

This is a collaborative project led by Prof Roger Barnard, Waikato University and Zuwati Hashim, Universiti Malaya, that investigates the status, challenges and directions of the use of English as a medium of instruction in various Southeast Asian nations. The project will lead to a publication of a volume by Taylor & Francis.
